Russian warships head to Atlantic, Mediterranean

The Russian navy said that its sole aircraft carrier and several accompanying ships left their base and were heading to the Atlantic and the Mediterranean. Navy spokesman Capt. Igor Dygalo said that the Admiral Kuznetsov carrier, the Admiral Levchenko destroyer and two support ships sailed from the Northern Fleet's main base of Severomorsk Friday. Dygalo said in a statement that the ships would perform combat training and visit several ports during the tour which would take several months.
