S. Korea would be OK with Obama-Kim Jong Il summit

South Korea's president said he would not oppose a summit between US President-elect Barack Obama and North Korean leader Kim Jong Il if it helps bring an end to Pyongyang's nuclear program, according to reports published Tuesday.
Obama said during his campaign for the presidency that he would be willing to hold direct talks with North Korea - including possibly meeting with the Stalinist country's leader.
A US-South Korea summit would be a sharp departure from the Washington's policy under President George W. Bush, who characterized North Korea as a member of an "axis of evil" soon after taking office in 2001.
President Lee Myung-bak said he did not have a "speck of concern" that a meeting between Obama and Kim would sideline South Korea in the international effort to disarm the peninsula of nuclear weapons.
