A Romanian immigrant has pleaded guilty in the case of a stolen bookmark that reportedly was once owned by Adolf Hitler.
The plea to a charge of sale or receipt of stolen goods was entered Thursday in US District Court by 37-year-old Christian Popescu of Kenmore.
According to documents filed in court, he tried to sell an 18-carat gold bookmark, engraved with a portrait of Hitler, an imperial eagle and a swastika, to an undercover agent outside a Starbucks store in Bellevue on November 25.
US government lawyers have said the bookmark was among some items stolen from an auction house in Madrid six years ago.
