Pakistani officials said that a suspected US missile strike killed six people near the Afghan border.
Two intelligence officials said that Saturday's attack targeted a former government building in South Waziristan, a border region considered a stronghold for both the Taliban and al-Qaida.
The identity of the victims was not immediately clear.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak publicly to the media.
