Tunisian man imprisoned in Afghanistan sues US government for freedom

A Tunisian man who says he has been held without charges by US forces since 2002 sued the United States government in federal court in Washington.
In court papers filed Wednesday, Redha al-Najar says he was held in secret overseas prisons by American intelligence forces for nearly two years. He then was transferred to a prison on an American air base in Bagram, Afghanistan, where he says he has been held virtually incommunicado without charges.
Al-Najar asked the US District Court in Washington to force the military to release him but not to send him back to Tunisia, because he says his life would be in immediate jeopardy there.
