Twenty killed, including 10 policemen, in clashes in Iran

Iranian police on Saturday said 20 people, including 10 policemen, were killed in clashes in western Iran near the border with Iraq. The Web site of the Iranian police said the clashes occurred after a group attacked a police station near the border town of Paveh. Several other Iranian police were injured in the clashes. Iran has faced several ethnic and religious insurgencies and armed attacks by opposition groups on some of its borders in recent years - though none have amounted to a serious threat to the government.
