UN chief: $16B being given to help world's poor

The head of the UN announced Thursday that the world has responded with more than $16 billion to help the poor despite the current financial crisis. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says the response has "exceeded all our expectations." Microsoft's Bill Gates says he loves the UN's goals to fight poverty because they've grabbed the world's attention. Ban made the comments at the end of a day-long event to generate fresh support to achieve the Millennium Development Goals by the target date of 2015.
