UN interfaith conference: Pakistan's leader backs moderate Islam
By JERUSALEM POST STAFF
Pakistan's president is urging world leaders to follow the moderate Islamic principles advocated by his assassinated wife, Benazir Bhutto - dialogue, tolerance and opposition to extremism.
Asif Ali Zardari called terrorism, discrimination, and violence against women "un-Islamic."
Zardari invoked his wife's belief in a moderate, modern and loving Islam half a dozen times in his speech to a UN interfaith conference on Thursday.
He said the high-level meeting must start a global quest for reconciliation.
