US State Department: Ship captain getting medical treatment from Navy

The State Department on Sunday said that Capt. Richard Phillips is safe and receiving medical treatment aboard a Navy ship in the Indian Ocean. The American sea captain was freed Sunday after being held by Somali pirates. State Department spokeswoman Laura Tischler confirmed that Phillips is free and safe, and is getting medical care. She could not say if the captain was receiving medical care because he had been injured or if he was being treated for exposure after his ordeal.
