Palestinian migrants sing along to Yiddish tune
The drama unfolding in Europe involving masses of refugees from the war-torn Middle East at times produces uplifting moments that transcend cultural and linguistic boundaries.
Hans Breuer, an Austrian good Samaritan who has taken it upon himself to help migrants get to Austria from Hungary, uploaded a video to YouTube showing him singing in Yiddish to a Palestinian-Syrian family that is on its way to Vienna.
In the film, Breuer belts out a chorus of a Yiddish song called Oyfn Veg, Shteyt a Boym after picking the family up from the Vamosszabadi refugee camp. By all appearances, the family likes what they hear.
