Sarkozy to Assad: Convince Iran to prove its nuclear program is peaceful

French President Nicolas Sarkozy says he asked Syria's leader to help resolve the crisis over the Iranian nuclear program.
Syria and Iran have good relations and Sarkozy said he asked Bashar Assad to "convince Iran to show proof" that it is not using its nuclear program to develop nuclear arms.
Sarkozy met Saturday with Assad before a summit about the Mediterranean region on Sunday. He said he discussed Iran with Assad and asked him to use his influence with Tehran.
