A 40-year-old pedestrian was hit Thursday night by a car in Haifa, according to reports by police and the emergency response organization Magen David Adom.

MDA paramedics who arrived at the scene provided medical care. However, after several attempts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have opened an investigation.

An MDA paramedic who treated the victim said when the team arrived he was already lying on the road unconscious.

“He suffered from a systemic injury and was not breathing and had no pulse,” the medic reported. He said passerby informed the MDA team that the man had been hit by a car.
