Seu Jorge, one of Brazil’s most acclaimed contemporary singer/songwriters and actors, will pay special tribute to David Bowie as part of his The Life Aquatic tour on May 22 at Tel Aviv’s Performing Arts Center.
Jorge is arguably best known for his role in Wes Anderson’s 2004 film The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.
In the film, the musician sang Portuguese covers of classic David Bowie songs.
(They were later released on a 2005 album, The Life Aquatic Studio Sessions with Seu Jorge).
Bowie acknowledged the beauty of Jorge’s covers, remarking in the album’s liner notes: “Had Seu Jorge not recorded my songs in Portuguese, I would never have heard this new level of beauty which he has imbued them with.”
Jorge will not only be performing Bowie’s greatest hits, but he will also recreate the set of the film A Life Aquatic on stage, alongside screens crafted as boat sails that will display images from the film.
Tickets range from NIS 199 to NIS 259. For tickets, go to www.eventim.co.il/seu-jorge.
