Brazilian star Milton Nascimento on the way

The June concert, which will feature an eight-piece band, offers local fans from across the music spectrum a rare opportunity to see one of the icons of Brazilian music in action.

Stellar Brazilian vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and composer Milton Nascimento will make his Israel debut at the Mann Auditorium in Tel Aviv, on June 30.
76-year-old Nascimento, whose instrumental arsenal includes guitar, bass guitar and double bass, has been at the forefront of Brazilian music for over half a century, dipping into jazz and local genres such as samba and bossa nova. He has also collaborated with top British and American rock and pop acts such as Duran Duran, Peter Gabriel, Paul Simon and Cat Stevens, as well as leading jazz artists Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and Pat Metheny.
Nascimento was instrumental in founding the Clube de Esquina musical cooperative in the late 1960s which embraced a wide range of genres and styles, from bossa nova to rock and roll, and jazz. It is also the title of his groundbreaking 1972 record.
