Irit Hemmo and Tamar Getter are joint recipients of the 2019 NS 18,000 Dizengoff Prize for Painting and Sculpture.

For Hemmo, the judges’ citation reads in part that “for the last 30 years hers has been a singular and independent voice, in that she preserves and reinvents the cultural memory of artists from the past and suggests a renewed present for them.”

For Getter, the citation reads in part that “she is responsible for bodies of work that are central to, and among the most influential of, those created in Israel.”

Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai will attend the ceremony, which is to be held on December 3.
