Former prime minister Ehud Barak said that the upcoming April elections are the most crucial elections in Israel's history since the 1995 Rabin assassination during an interview with Channel 2 news on Monday.
"If we'll act right...we could say farewell to [Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu," he said, "instead of the dark..reckless vision sponsored by him [we should have] a relaunching of the original Zionist vision."
The former IDF Chief said he might join a political coalition if one will be created to defeat the long serving Netanyahu, but that he does not see himself assuming the position of Prime Minister.
Barak publicly slammed Netanyahu in recent years, comparing him and his wife Sara to Elena and Nicolae Ceaușescu, who became notorious for their corruption and pleasure-seeking lifestyle in socialist Romania until their execution in 1989.
