Goldfinch smuggler caught on Allenby Bridge – with birds in his shoes

The man, a Palestinian resident of Hebron, was caught after he walked in a strange way.

A Palestinian man who resides in Hebron was found smuggling goldfinch birds in his shoes when attempting to cross Allenby bridge between Jordan and Israel, COGAT reported on Friday. 
 
The man attempted to hide eight goldfinches in his shoes. The birds were alive and the man was discovered when he was found walking in an unusual way that was unusual. 
 
The goldfinch is a rare bird in Israel and is protected under law.
