The traditional Israel Air Force special flyover event to celebrate Independence Day took place on Thursday.

Different fighter planes strut their stuff over the Israeli skies from the North to the South, doing acrobatics, maneuvers and other exciting stunts.

This year the Israel Air Force also honored residents of the Gaza border communities in a special flyover as "an expression of gratitude for the firm stand that the residents showed during the past few days of fighting and throughout the years,"  the IDF said.

Israel’s flyover is one of the most popular parts of the country’s Independence Day celebrations, with millions of Israelis watching the combat jets, transport aircraft and helicopters fly over the entirety of the country.
