Labor MK Erel Margalit believes that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has lost control over Jerusalem. Margalit who lives in the capital, and who prior to joining the Knesset founded a number of social action youth groups, has called on them and like-minded individuals to join him and the Labor Young Guard on Saturday night, November 29, in a demonstration in France Square (more commonly known as Paris Square) which is around the corner from the prime minister’s residence.

Meretz is a co-organizer of the demonstration which has criticized the loss of personal safety in Jerusalem and against the continued creation of divisiveness among different sectors of the capital’s population. The demonstration is in support of responsible and balanced leadership, the restoration of sanity in Jerusalem and a declaration that the Labor Party is the sane alternative to Netanyahu.

Speakers will include former cabinet minister Yossi Sarid as well as past and present MKs. Among the demonstrators will be members of the family of legendary Jerusalem Mayor Teddy Kollek, who during his 26 years in office built up the city by adding on parks, schools, theaters and other cultural institutions.
