Police: Store managers stole millions from major Israeli clothing chain

Police arrest 10 store employees suspected of involvement in year-long scam.

A group of store managers from Israeli clothing chain Renaur stole millions of shekels worth of clothes and money from the company over the course of a year-long scam, police said Sunday.
Police announced that they had arrested 10 employees of the chain, who they said spent a year falsifying orders from the company’s warehouses and making fraudulent sales at one of the chain’s flagship stores.
Tel Aviv police said they first got wind of the alleged scam when a group of executives from the company approached investigators from the Yarkon subdistrict, telling them that they had discovered that their Herzliya store was losing large amounts of money. They also said they found big discrepancies between the amount of merchandise being ordered by the store from the company’s warehouses and the amount of money they were taking in.
The 10 suspects arrested by police are managers and employees of the store.
Police said that after receiving the complaint, they began checking the store’s records and found that over the course of a year there was not a single day in which suspicious sales were not recorded.
Police said Sunday the investigation is still ongoing and further arrests may be in the works.
