Seven ‘inspirational immigrants’ to be honored Sunday at Knesset

“Israel’s development over the past seven decades has been shaped by the remarkable contributions, ingenuity and talents of olim,” Nefesh B’Nefesh co-founder says.

More than 350 people are expected to attend a ceremony at the Knesset on Sunday honoring seven English-speaking olim who have significantly contributed to the State of Israel in various fields.
The Sylvan Adams Nefesh B’Nefesh Bonei Zion Prize will be awarded to these immigrants by Minister of Regional Cooperation Tzachi Hanegbi and Nefesh B’Nefesh co-founders Tony Gelbart and Rabbi Yehoshua Fass. Jewish Agency chairman Isaac Herzog will also attend.
“Israel’s development over the past seven decades has been shaped by the remarkable contributions, ingenuity and talents of olim,” said Fass. “They have transformed the landscape of virtually every professional field and community in Israel.”
The recipients are: Maj. Keren Hajioff, head of public diplomacy in the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit; Dr. Marcia Javitt, chairman of radiology at Rambam Hospital; Morris Kahn, cofounder of Amdocs; Arsen Ostrovsky, executive director of the Israel-Jewish Congress; Rabbi Dr. Shlomo Riskin, founder of Ohr Torah Stone and the founding rabbi of the town of Efrat in Gush Etzion; Kalman Samuels, founder and chairman of Shalva, the Israel Association for the Care and Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities; and Linda Streit, founder of the Daniel Amichai Center for Rowing and Nautical Studies.
