The captain of El-Al flight LY001 and members of the flight crew were stopped for questioning on Sunday at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York on suspicion they failed to report a sexual harassment case, according to a report carried in Walla! news.
The incident occurred on a flight from Tel Aviv to New York.
A young American woman complained to the flight manager that the man seated next to her sexually harassed her and the two were moved away from each other, however it is unclear why the case went unreported during the flight as that would have allowed US authorities to arrest the man after the landing, the report said.
The case went unreported to both US and Israeli authorities during the flight, Walla said. The woman filed a complaint with the US border agents upon entering the US.
El Al said in a statement that the young women was presented with various options of how her complaint can be dealt with by El Al and chose the option of filing a complaint upon landing.
"El Al will be at the disposal of the passenger in any way she needs, " a company spokesperson said.
