Yesh Atid chairman Yair Lapid announced on Thursday that he intends to hold what he called a “town-hall meeting” in Jerusalem in English next week for immigrants from English-speaking countries.
Lapid will use the meeting to present his party’s plans for Israel’s future and to answer questions from the crowd.
“There is a significant population in Israel that speaks mother-tongue English and now they have a chance to engage with a candidate for prime minister without the obstacle of Hebrew,” said former Yesh Atid MK Dov Lipman. “So many people ask me: ‘What does Yair Lapid think about this?’ ‘What does Yair Lapid think about that?’ Now they will have their chance to ask him.”
Yesh Atid maintains an active English division and an updated English website.
Registration is required for the event, which will be held at the Bible Lands Museum on Wednesday night.
The town hall meeting is one of a number of party events being held ahead of Rosh Hashana, but it is the only one in English.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a toast for Likud activists on Wednesday night at Airport City near Ben-Gurion Airport. His former No. 2 in the Likud, Gideon Sa’ar, will hold a toast next Wednesday.
