1 killed, 7 injured in car accidents over weekend

25-year-old pedestrian killed while crossing road; 4 injured in Jordan Valley collision; 3 injured when their car overturns.

A 25-year-old man was hit by a car and killed early Saturday morning as he was crossing Route 2 at the southern entrance to Haifa. A Magen David Adom team that was called to the scene pronounced the man's death. In a collision between two cars on Road 90, in the Jordan Valley, one person was badly injured, one moderately and two lightly. Two of the victims were taken to Rambam Hospital in Haifa by helicopter and two others were taken to Ha'Emek Hospital in Afula. Earlier Saturday, three men in their twenties were injured, one badly and two lightly, when their vehicle overturned. Police were still investigating the circumstances leading to the accident. Since the beginning of 2008, 377 passengers, drivers and pedestrians have died on Israel's roads.
