Abbas: Egypt to push for new Gaza truce

Egypt will push for a new truce between Israel and Hamas, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said Tuesday. The six-month-old truce, mediated by Mubarak, expired last Friday. Speaking after meeting with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, Abbas also said the two had agreed that reconciliation talks between Hamas and Fatah should go forward. Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni is scheduled to arrive in Cairo Thursday for talks with Mubarak about a new truce.
