The three-month-old baby whose father allegedly beat her unconscious was still listed in serious condition Monday. She was admitted Sunday to Shaarei Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem with severe bruising and was later transferred to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital. The father originally told police that his daughter had been injured in an accident, but, when questioned further, changed his story and admitted that he had beaten her while under the influence of drugs, Army Radio reported. A month ago, the Family Court rejected a petition filed by a child welfare organization to remove the baby from her parents' custody.
