Arab women, anti-Zionist haredim hold separate, small anti-war protests

Several dozen Arab women gathered Wednesday near the Damascus Gate outside Jerusalem's Old City in protest over Israel's assault on Hamas in Gaza, police said. One of the female demonstrators was arrested by police after she tried to lead an anti-war procession, Jerusalem police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said. Violent anti-Israel stone-throwing protests among Arabs residents of east Jerusalem over the last week and a half have largely petered out, although tensions continue to simmer in the area. Separately, a group of 15 anti-Zionist haredim held a brief protest against the Gaza assault in the city's Mea Shearim neighborhood, police said. The demonstration by the Neturei Karta members in the neighborhood's central square ended without incident.
