Aryeh Deri's brother launches new political party

The brother of former Shas head Aryeh Deri launched a new political party that will call itself Respect and Tradition - Social National Party. Attorney Shlomo "Mamo" Deri, Aryeh's younger brother, registered the new party ahead of February's national elections, according to Ma'ariv. Aryeh Deri refused to confirm whether he would personally be involved in the new political party. If Deri were to decide to run, he would be vying for Shas's constituency. The move by Deri's brother was interpreted by one Shas source as an attempt by Deri to put pressure on his old party to reinstate him in Shas's political ranks.
