Boaz Toporovsky elected national student union head

Boaz Toporovsky beat out his opponent Yaniv Ben Shushan 59 to 40 to be elected the next head of the National Union of Israeli Students (NUIS) on Sunday. Toporovsky has a BA in law and economics from Tel Aviv University and is studying for a masters degree in law. Toporovsky is a past head of the TAU student union and left his position as a senior advisor to Welfare and Social Services Minister Isaac Herzog to run for chair of NUIS. Among his responsibilities was overseeing the National Insurance Institute. He replaces Itai Shonshine who served for two and half years.
