Calm in Gaza Strip unlikely to last, Olmert tells McCain

The calm in the Gaza Strip is unlikely to last, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told prospective Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain on Wednesday.
In a meeting between the two men, which was also attended by senators Joseph Lieberman (Conn.) and Lindsey Graham, Olmert said that Israel could not continue suffering the rocket fire from Gaza, and would ultimately stop it.
Responding to a question from his guests, Olmert said that it was possible to stop the rockets without reentering Gaza, by creating a deterrent.
McCain agreed with Olmert that the situation in the South was indeed intolerable.
