Assaf Goldring, the father suspected of choking his three-year-old daughter to death with a plastic wrap, was charged with first degree murder in the Petah Tikva District Court on Thursday morning. The indictment charged that Goldring had killed his daughter, Noa, "in order to hurt his wife, Liza." The trial is set to begin on September 6. Goldring, who has confessed to the alleged murder, was deemed fit to stand trial by psychiatrists earlier this week. While at the Lev Hasharon Psychiatric Hospital in Pardesiya undergoing psychiatric evaluation, Goldring apparently attempted to commit "suicide-by-cop,"; he allegedly attacked a police guard in the hope that the officer would kill him, it emerged during a remand extension hearing last week. Relatives of the murdered girl accuse Goldring of putting on a show and pretending to be insane to avoid a prison sentence. They believe Goldring carried out a cold-blooded, premeditated murder. Noa's body was found two weeks ago, stretched out on a bed in Goldring's home in Moshav Batzra. Yaakov Lappin contributed to this report
