Gov't approves temporary order to intensify number of foreign workers

The government approved on Sunday afternoon a temporary order to substantially increase the number of foreign workers in Israel, Army Radio reported. According to the initiative, led by Agriculture Minister Shalom Simhon, the government will give Gaza periphery farmers exemption from the obligation of employing one Israeli worker for every foreign worker hired. Treasury officials criticized the decision, saying that the move will damage the integration of Israeli citizens into the workforce.
