IAF wounds Gaza gunmen in air strike; IDF continuing to operate in area

IDF aircraft targeted a gunman in the Gaza Strip early Sunday, wounding the man. According the IDF Spokespersons Office, the gunman had been identified approaching troops operating in the area. A successful air strike was called in moments later, but it was unclear to what extent the man was wounded. Soldiers from the Givati Brigade, tanks, and members of the engineering corps penetrated two kilometers into Gaza late Saturday night in an operation which aimed to stem Palestinian sniper fire against Israeli farmers across the border. Later Sunday morning, troops involved in the operation came under small arms fire and mortar shell fire. Nobody was wounded in the attacks, and no damage was reported.
