Israel Radio's Arie Golan and Yaron Dekel to receive Sokolov Prize

C'tee selects Golan as worthy of a Life Achievement Award, chooses Dekel to receive the prize for excellence.

Israel Broadcasting Authority program hosts Arie Golan and Yaron Dekel have been awarded the prestigious Sokolov Prize for Journalism in the broadcasting category. The prize is awarded annually by the Tel Aviv-Jaffa Municipality. The adjudicating committee selected Golan as worthy of a Life Achievement Award and chose Dekel to receive the prize for excellence in recognition of the quality of his in-depth reports, in particular his wide-ranging investigative report on American Jewry in terms of self identification, relationship to Jewish tradition and to Israel during the period when he was the IBA's correspondent in the United States. The report on American Jewry was aired on Israel Television to critical acclaim. Since his return to Israel, Dekel has hosted a morning talk show on Israel Radio: "It's All Talk" - in which he discusses issues of the day with politicians and other public figures as well as with lesser-known individuals. Dekel is also a widely respected political commentator who appears daily and nightly on news and current affairs radio and television programs hosted by his IBA colleagues. Golan, a seasoned journalist who is frequently called upon to act as master of ceremonies at international events, hosts an even earlier breakfast show, "This Morning," in which he reviews the morning news and conducts related interviews. The two will receive their citations and cash prizes of NIS18,000 each from Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai at an awards ceremony at the Einav Cultural Center on January 5.
