Israel reimposes Gaza media ban

Defense officials have reinstated a ban on international journalists entering the Gaza Strip, despite protests from the heads of major news organizations and an appeal to the country's Supreme Court. The ban was originally imposed in early November, then lifted last Thursday after weeks of complaints by the international media. The ban was quickly reinstated over the weekend as part of a wider closure of the Israel-Gaza border in response to Palestinian rocket attacks. IDF spokesman Peter Lerner said Monday that the ban, along with the wider closure, would be reviewed on a day-to-day basis. Officials have said that access will be restored when the Palestinians stop the cross-border rocket fire.
