Jerusalem District Court indicted a 22-year-old man with contacting a foreign agent Monday, and charged him for working with Hamas to gather intelligence on Israeli sites.According to the indictment, the Beit Tsafafa resident Ahmad Awad became acquainted with Hamas operatives during a period of academic study in Cyprus in 2008.RELATED:3 Israeli-Arabs charged with espionageLebanon compiles list of spy cases against IsraelHe was then allegedly recruited into the Muslim Brotherhood by the Hamas militants, who promised to pay part of his university tuition and living expenses in exchange for information and reports on assorted topics.Awad was also reportedly given training for his "role" within the organization which included learning to use coding programs and other intelligence apparatus. When he finished his training, Awad was given an alias, "Khaled" and told to use it when communicating with the operatives issuing his instructions.Awad was arrested upon arrival in Israel from Turkey last July.
