J'lem municipal official under house arrest for allegedly taking bribes

A senior Jerusalem Municipality official was placed under house arrest on Wednesday for a week for allegedly taking bribes and committing an array of other criminal offenses, police said.
Dadia Meir, who is charged with municipal supervision, was interrogated by police on suspicion of taking bribes, fraud and breach of trust, Jerusalem police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said.
He was prohibited from contacting any municipal officials for the next 15 days. Meir has worked at the municipality for decades.
The city declined comment Wednesday pending the police investigation.
