Knesset committee votes to raise public transportation tax by 9%

The Knesset Inter-Ministerial Price Committee decided on Sunday to raise the taxes for public transportation by 8 percent in January 2009, instead of the 12% which had been proposed. According to reports, Transportation Minister Shaul Mofaz opposed the move, arguing instead for the rates to remain unchanged.
