Knesset c'tee passes bill against racist and Nazi gatherings

The Knesset Law Committee on Sunday approved for a second and third reading a bill that would prohibit the assembly of racist and Nazi groups in Israel. The bill, initiated by MK Moshe Gafni (United Torah Judaism), declares any gathering of people, formally organized or not, that through its constitution or propaganda incites or encourages racism, Nazi principles or participation in the Nazi movement, to be in violation of the law and subject to up to a year in prison. Only committee chairman MK Menahem Ben-Sasson (Kadima), MK David Rotem (Israel Beiteinu) and Gafni were present at the discussion, where the bill passed unanimously.
