The Knesset will vote Monday on Labor MK Ofir Paz-Pines's proposal to cancel the Tal Law.
The law, which was established under then prime minister Ehud Barak's administration in 1999, allows yeshiva students over age 22 to take up to one year off from their studies to work without being drafted into the army. The law aims to direct yeshiva students into the workforce by giving them the option, if they leave the yeshivot, of either joining the army for a truncated period or doing voluntary service, after which they can legally work.
