Liver of dead toddler saves the life of another baby from Yarka

The organs of Ella Hanina, a 15-month-old toddler who passed away in her sleep a week ago, were donated by her parents immediately after her death. The donation helped save the life of another toddler, of Ella's age from the village of Yarka. The Yarka baby is of similar weight and height and the same blood type as Ella. Her liver was transplanted in the boy in the Schneider Pediatric Medical Center. Other organs from Ella's body were sent to Italy, which coordinates organ transplants throughout the Middle East. No appropriate candidates were found, but Ella's cardiac valves can still save another baby, as these parts can be cryogenically preserved for an additional five years.
