Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni is traveling to Washington to discuss a Gaza cease-fire.
A statement from the Israeli prime ministers office said Livni would be leaving for the United States Thursday night to discuss and Egyptian mediated cease-fire to end the fighting in Gaza.
The statement said Livni will be meeting with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and other US officials.
The United States and Egypt have been working to forge a truce agreement that would end 20 days of bitter fighting in the Gaza Strip between Israel and Hamas militants.
