Man dies, wife injured in apparent double suicide attempt

A man died and his wife was in moderate condition Sunday morning after the elderly couple apparently attempted to commit a double suicide.
The couple from Nir Akiva apparently attempted to gas themselves in their car by connecting a hose between the exhaust and cabin, Channel 10 reported. The wife then had second thoughts and alerted resuce services, but they were unable to save her husband.
Police's initial investigation showed that the two, both in their 70s, decided to commit suicide due to heavy debts that they were unable to repay.
