Yaron Bracha, responsible for a deadly car crash 18 months ago in which six people were killed, including his twin brother, was sentenced Thursday to 16 years in jail.
Bracha, convicted of six counts of manslaughter for driving through a red light at Ginaton Junction while under the influence of drugs and alcohol, was also given a four-year suspended sentence and his driving license was suspended.
Bracha collided with a car at 170 kilometers per hour in the March 2007 incident, killing his brother, Eyal, who was in the passenger seat, and five Egged employees on their way home from work.
Throughout the case, Bracha maintained that his brother had been driving the car, a claim that was refuted in court.
According to the charge sheet, lab results proved that Bracha had been drinking and had used both cocaine and marijuana in the hours prior to the collision.
Police said Bracha had a history of driving offenses and had at one time received a three-month suspended sentence for four violations.
Following Thursday's sentencing, Barcha's mother, Mali, broke down hysterically, saying that her life had been ruined, and his father cursed the court.
