A 24 year-old man with a history of sexually assaulting young girls has been arrested on suspicion of raping a six-year-old girl in a Jerusalem synagogue on Yom Kippur. The man, who has three open police cases against him for similar incidents in previous months, is accused of attacking the girl in the synagogue's bathroom. Shortly afterwards, the girl told her parents about the incident, saying the man had touched her and that her intimate part hurt. The girl's father located the suspect and seized his identity card before the suspect fled the scene. He was arrested by police in central Jerusalem on Wednesday. The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court extended his custody until Sunday. During police interrogations, the suspect tied himself to the scene of the crime, but denied the charges, Jerusalem police said. In a second shocking rape case, a resident of Jerusalem was arrested on Thursday on charges of raping his daughter, as well as daughters from a previous marriage. The suspect, who denies all charges, fell under police suspicions after a social worker noticed strange behavior in the man's daughter while she played with dolls in kindergarten. There is a court-imposed media ban on further details of the case.
