Miki Goldwasser to run on Mayor's list in Nahariya

Miki Goldwasser, whose son Ehud was killed in a botched kidnapping attempt in July 2006, has now expanded her public battle beyond the issue of captive soldiers. On Tuesday she announced her intention to run on the mayor's list for the city council in Nahariya where she lives. For Goldwasser, who buried her son only last month after a two year struggle to return him to Israel, entering the political arena is her way of paying the public back for the support she received. "I was given so much by people from all over the country and I received so much love and support from my city, that I think I should do what I can to help the community," Goldwasser said. In addition to working to better life in Nahariya, since her son's funeral, Goldwasser has also spent time working on the campaign to free captive soldier Gilad Schalit.
