Peres: Iran violating UN constitution by calling for Israel's destruction

President Shimon Peres said on Wednesday that Iran was violating the UN constitution, Army Radio reported. During a meeting with UN envoy to the Middle East Robert H. Serry, Peres said: "It wants to wipe out another nation which is also a member of the UN. If Teheran wants peace, why is it developing long-range missiles? If their nuclear [program] is for peaceful purposes, why are those missiles able to carry nuclear warheads?" Peres also warned that if the security situation in the West Bank becomes similar to that in the Gaza Strip, the results would be "catastrophic."
