Peretz claims credit for Hizbullah's loss

Hizbullah's defeat in Sunday's Lebanese election is a direct result of the Second Lebanon War and the policies of the Defense Ministry when it was headed by Labor MK Amir Peretz, Peretz said Monday. Peretz said the results proved that the Lebanese people realized that aiding Hizbullah was not in their best interests due in part to the war. "As time passes, the success of Israel's strategy in the war in advancing Israel's interests becomes clearer," Peretz said. A critic of Peretz in Labor mocked him for claiming credit for the victory of Lebanese moderates, saying "at least he can say he won something."
