Platoon commander sentenced to 15 months for unlawful use of firearms

IDF Lt. Kobi Gigi, a platoon commander from the Lavi Battalion who ordered his soldiers to commandeer a taxi and shoot an innocent Palestinian bystander in the West Bank village of Dahariya, was sentenced by the Jaffa Military Court, Sunday, to fifteen months in jail and demoted to the rank of private, Army Radio reported. Gigi was indicted in August on a number of charges, including aggravated assault and conduct unbefitting of an officer. Gigi admitted as part of a plea bargain to overstepping authority to the point of endangering lives, unlawful use of firearms, conduct unbefitting of an officer and giving false evidence.
