Jerusalem police, together with Border Police forces, detained five senior Hamas members for questioning in the capital on Wednesday night.
The Hamas officials had been working until recently in the local Hamas office near the northern border of the city and had helped Palestinian parliament members conduct Hamas activity in Jerusalem.
The arrest was part of a continuing struggle with Hamas activity in the area, which included revoking the citizenship of legislative council members and of the minister of Jerusalem affairs, who were being held in custody.
